St. AlexandraSt. Alexandra and her companions (Claudia, Euphrasia, Matrona, Juliana, Euphemia, Theodosia, and Derphuta) were Christians killed for their faith at Amisus, Paphlagonia, during the persecution of the Emperor Diocletian. Their feast day is March 20. Some sources recount that Diocletian’s wife the Empress Alexandra was a secret Christian and was martyred for the faith at the order of her husband; the Empress Alexandra is honored as a saint by the Greek Orthodox. |
