St. AliceAlso known as Aleydis, Alice was born at Sherbet which is near Brussels. Her family sent her to the Cistercian convent of La Cambre when she was age seven. Here she spent the rest of her life, earning fame for her humility, patience, and holiness. She contracted leprosy and had to be isolated. She suffered much, becoming blind and paralyzed. Alice was devoted to the Eucharist and many miracles were credited to her. She died in 1250 and her cult was officially approved in 1907. Her feast day is June 15. |
