St. BenjaminBenjamin was deacon in Persia imprisoned for his faith during the reign of Varanes, king of Persia. After a year in prison an ambassador of the Emperor obtained his release from the Persian authorities on the condition that Benjamin would not preach the gospel. He was released, but would not hear of the agreement made on his behalf. He continued to preach Christ and the king had him once more arrested. After dreadful torture, he died in 424. St. Benjamin’s feast day is March 31. |
